This course will give students an overview of and introduction to the behavior and welfare of domestic mammalian species.

Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: at least one year of pre-college biology.

Comments This course is appropriate for both high school students and college-level students interested in exploring this topic. Does not meet curriculum requirements in the animal science major.

Outcomes
  • Students will be able to summarize and compare categories of behavior between species.
  • Students will be able to apply the general concepts of mammalian behavior and biology to evaluate the welfare of animals in various scenarios.
  • Students will be able to conduct scientific literature reviews.
  • Students will be able to present their findings in written and oral formats.
