This course examines the effect of national differences on the processes and systems associated with managing human resources across national boundaries, as in the case of multinational corporations. The opening topics look at the diverse ways to conceptualize cross-national differences and diverse models of HRM across nations. Then the course will examine HRM for multinational corporations focusing on major HR functions including staffing, development, performance management, compensation, and mobility management. The course also covers the challenges of corporate social responsibilities in the context of global HRM. Students are given the opportunity to enhance their skills in organizational analysis, problem solving and strategic thinking - through case studies.
