Topics include (but not limited to): porous materials in the subsurface, water transport, mass and momentum conservation, infiltration, unsaturated flows. Throughout the course, we integrate common analytical and numerical methods for solving partial differential equations encountered in developing the fundamental concepts, such as separation of variables, method of characteristics and finite difference. Grades are based on individual and group assignments, a midterm, and a final project.
When Offered Spring.
