Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2019-2020.

This course covers fundamentals of flow and transport in porous media and essentials of analytical and numerical methods for solving problems relevant to groundwater. Topics include (but not limited to): porous materials in the subsurface, water transport, mass and momentum conservation, infiltration, unsaturated flows. Throughout the course, we integrate common analytical and numerical methods for solving partial differential equations encountered in developing the fundamental concepts, such as separation of variables, method of characteristics and finite difference. Grades are based on individual and group assignments, a midterm, and a final project.

When Offered Spring.

Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: ENGRD 3200 or equivalent, CEE 3310 or equivalent, or permission of instructor.
