The capstone course is designed as a culmination of students’ sports education at Cornell as they work on group projects tackling pressing industry problems. Students can work on projects provided by the course instructor or on individual (and instructor approved projects). Projects will be jointly supervised by industry partners and Cornell faculty. In addition to written deliverables students will present their projects and insights to faculty and industry advisors.

Learning Outcomes

  • Integrate knowledge from across the sports curriculum to address complex, interdisciplinary problems facing sports organizations and the broader sports industry.
  • Define and scope an industry problem by identifying relevant stakeholders, organizational constraints, project goals and criteria for success.
  • Apply appropriate analytical, research and problem-solving methods to evaluate evidence and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Translate analysis into practical solutions that account for organizational strategy, implementation feasibility, financial considerations and stakeholder needs.
