Course Description

Course objective: Prepare students to design effective and sustainable breeding programs and to implement modern selection tools. Course topics:
When Offered Fall.
Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: courses in statistics, genetics, plant breeding, and quantitative genetics or permission of instructor.
Outcomes
- Be able to predict response from selection in complex breeding programs.
- Understand the dynamics of populations under selection.
- Be able to use best linear unbiased prediction (BLUP) for both conventional and genomic selection.
Seven Week - Second. Choose one lecture and one laboratory.
