Course Description
Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2016-2017.
An advanced treatment of conduction, convection, and radiation heat transfer from a theoretical perspective. Topics include: conservation of linear momentum in integral and differential forms; steady state and transient conduction; moving boundary effects associated with melting and evaporation; boundary layer flows with emphasis on laminar conditions; scale analysis; forced and free convection; internal and external flows; black body radiation; radiative exchange between nongray surfaces; Taught at the level of "Conduction Heat Transfer", by Arpaci; "Convective Heat and Mass Transfer", by Kays and Crawford, and "Radiation Heat Transfer", by Sparrow and Cess.
