ECE 3950

Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2016-2017.

ECE ideas have many applications in biology and medicine and this course will focus on two such applications: (1) In a more biological direction, the first outcome is that students will understand the Hodgekin-Huxley theory for the transmission of electrical impulses on axons of neurons in the nervous system. (2) In a more medical direction, the second outcome is that students will understand the origin of the signals in magnetic resonance imaging and the ideas used to compute a 3-D reconstruction of the object being imaged from the measured signals. The third outcome, interleaved with the first two outcomes, is that students will gain experience in software engineering for quantitative engineering calculations.

When Offered Fall.
