Introductory Graduate Survey in Neurobiology and Behavior

Course Description

Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2016-2017.

A graduate-level seminar with presentations from lecturers in BIONB 2210 and BIONB 2220. Discussions of current research in the area of neurobiology or behavior that have been presented in the lecture class. A lab project and/or a writing component each week could be assigned to ensure engagement with the material.

Permission Note Enrollment limited to: 20 students.
Prerequisites/Corequisites Corequisite: BIONB 2210 and BIONB 2220.

Satisfies Requirement Requirement for first-year graduate students in the Field of Neurobiology and Behavior.

• To know and understand the current frontiers of both behavioral and neurobiological studies, including which unanswered questions are considered to be the most important ones, and which questions might actually be answerable in a doctoral thesis project or longer term study.
• To hone critical thinking skills with respect to identifying important questions and designing strategies to address them.
• To become familiar with the most compelling current tools, both conceptual and experimental, for answering behavioral and neurobiological questions
