Wolof is an African language. It is widely spoken in West Africa in countries such as Senegal, The Gambia and Mauritania. Wolof is the most widely spoken language in Senegal. There are strong historical and contemporary links between the African American experiences and West Africa. Senegal and Wolof are important links in these experiences. Wolof has some influence on some West European languages. Banana is a Wolof word and it is also an English word!
