Course Description
Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2019-2020.
Designed to provide clinical experience in the use of anesthetics in small companion animals, horses, and some farm animals. Students participate in selecting suitable anesthetic techniques for patients in the Cornell University Hospital for Animals and then implement those techniques under the supervision of faculty and residents. The goal is for students to learn the skills and thought processes necessary to perform safe anesthesia in a modern veterinary practice. All students are strongly encouraged to take a second rotation; students on the Equine, Mixed Animal, Production Animal, or Zoo/Wildlife tracks who elect to take a second rotation will be permitted to work exclusively in Equine and Farm Animal Anesthesia if desired. Students taking their second rotation will be encouraged, if case-load allows, to use drugs and perform techniques to which they were not exposed during their first rotation.
When Offered Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer.
