Course information provided by the 2025-2026 Catalog.

All businesses start with a person and an idea. From there as that idea grows and formalizes more resources, both human and financial, are required. This course will help you improve your idea, develop new ideas, determine the next steps, and even recruit co-founders. The course is team-based, experiential, and focuses on teaching modern startup methodologies. Students will interact with and listen to potential customers, explore the nuances of organizing a startup company, and design a business model optimized for success. This class aims to simulate the uncertainty that all startups face as they search for a business model, while imparting an understanding of all the components that comprise a modern business model. This course will combine theory with intensive hands-on practice and culminate in students learning how to pitch their business concept in a way that excites customers, investors, partners, and employees. Course is open to all. No existing formal business experience or business idea required.
