An intensive summer course, this studio provides a hands-on introduction to the world of product design. Students identify a design problem, utilize ergonomic research and develop prototypes leading to a final solution. Students will understand the larger world of product design in terms of ecological decisions, materials, processes and professional practice. Appropriate for DEA, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Engineering, Fine Art students and others interested in product design.

When Offered Summer.

Outcomes
  • Apply knowledge of design issues, design research, and creative problem solving to evaluate existing products and spaces.
  • Employ step by step methods to innovative product design and creative problem solving while addressing overall societal issues.
  • Create designs that mitigate waste, utilize poor ergonomics, and create non-ecological results, while reinforcing visual vulgarity.
