MUSIC 7434

Course information provided by the 2026-2027 Catalog.

This graduate seminar approaches sound art through composing with physical materials and space. Historical and contemporary works serve as points of departure for examining the relationship between composition and sound art. The emphasis throughout is embodied and material: work is made with hands, materials, and space rather than on a screen. The course concludes with a showcase of individual or collaborative student projects in sound art. The course is open to graduate students in Music, Art, Architecture, Performing and Media Arts, and related fields.
