This course develops the skills needed to use Operations Research modeling and data analysis skills in real applications, i.e., “for real.” The course teaches and uses general modeling principles in a selection of applications, e.g., epidemic interventions, emergency service deployments, community first responder systems, bike sharing, ride hailing, and other topics as time/interest allows.


Prerequisites ORIE 5300 and ORIE 5500.

Corequisites ORIE 5510.

Learning Outcomes

  • Frame complex, unstructured, real-life problems to support analysis and decision making.
  • Develop code with the help of artificial intelligence tools to analyze data and build mathematical decision models.
  • Communicate technical models and analysis clearly and succinctly.
