NBAY 5400

Course information provided by the 2025-2026 Catalog.

This course is for future leaders who understand that technology decisions in media, art, and retail ripple far beyond balance sheets. We will examine how digital technologies are transforming media, art, and retail —industries that don't just drive economic value, but fundamentally shape how we experience the world, express identity, and connect with one another. Students will analyze and understand the strategic implications of emerging technologies in these sectors and the opportunities and challenges they create at the intersection of culture and commerce. The course combines rigorous case analysis to derive conceptual frameworks – drawing from the case studies written by the instructor – with hands-on fieldwork, projects and insights from industry speakers. This course is ideal for students interested in entrepreneurship, strategy, or leadership roles where business decisions carry cultural weight. Whether you aspire to launch a creative venture, lead innovation at an established brand, or advise these industries through consulting or investing, you'll gain frameworks for navigating the complex intersection of technology, culture, and commerce.
