Introduce students to industrial and research practices in materials science and engineering through the perspective of working professionals. Weekly seminars will focus on a sector of materials (polymers, metals, semiconductors, etc.) or applications (energy, sustainability, biomedical) with discussion of current challenges and opportunities. Former graduates in industry or national research labs will present each week on their current activities and the role of materials within their industry and specific job responsibilities. Students will have the opportunity to present a review of the topic and make a short presentation on a current topic of interest in materials science and engineering.
