LAW 6324

Course information provided by the 2025-2026 Catalog.

The rapid growth of generative artificial intelligence tools raises novel intersections with the framework for protecting intellectual property rights in the United States. This course will examine a variety of these intersections, ranging from the copyright issues involved in training generative AI systems, to the protectability of inventions and content generated by AI tools, to the IP protections available for such systems themselves. Along the way we will consider the rapidly evolving case law and regulatory context, including also how efforts to regulate AI more broadly could impact their IP protection.
