Course Description

This course is designed to introduce undergraduate students to the tech VC ecosystem in NYC from the perspective of actual venture capital investors. We will cover, at a high level, various aspects of how venture capitalists perform their multifaceted industry functions (for example, startup founder evaluation and relationships, due diligence, internal deal approval and selling process, and post investment portfolio company support). Students will also hear startup pitches and roll play as VCs, but these pitches will also include actual VCs to provide real time input and startup evaluation.
Fees Course fee, $120. For transportation and provided meals.

Instruction Mode: In Person
Transportation: students will be required to travel to and from NYC on a chartered bus, which will leave Ithaca at approximately 4:30pm on Thursday, February 5th. The bus will leave New York City and head back to Ithaca at approximately 1:00pm on Sunday, February 8th. NYC lass location: 570 Lexington Avenue. Lodging: students are encouraged to stay at the The Fifty Sonesta Hotel New York, which is very close to 570 Lexington Avenue (the class venue). Students will be responsible for paying for their lodging using a reserved Cornell rate and booking link to be provided. The room block will consist of double occupancy (2 queen beds per room) and cost will be approximately $235 per night per student. Meals: Breakfast and lunch will be provided on February 6th and 7th. Breakfast will be provided on February 8th. Students will be responsible for other meals. Course fee: a course fee of $150 will be charged to cover transportation and provided meals. Financial Assistance: students who need financial assistance (subject to verification) should contact the professor by January 9, 2026. Optional: Reception with Entrepreneurship with Cornell Alumni Advisory Council Members on Friday, February 6, 6:00pm-8:00pm.
