Course information provided by the 2025-2026 Catalog.

This is a core graduate-level course designed to develop essential presentation, writing, research, and teaching skills through hands-on experiences in lecture preparation, implementation of innovative teaching techniques, and oral/written science communication. Student-led lectures and journals clubs will survey widely used and emerging methods in biomedical research and clinical diagnostics. Each lecture will highlight how research methodologies could be applied in future research projects and will provide students with background on clinical methods they may observe during their clinical immersion term. Discussion sections will provide additional preparatory sessions for the BME summer immersion program, give opportunities for collaborative working sessions with peers, and allow for further scientific communication skill development.
