This course provides the prerequisite training and certification necessary for employment as a professional outdoor instructor at nationally recognized programs such as NOLS and Outward Bound. The curriculum goes beyond the basics needed for first aid certification to emphasize the skills and knowledge needed in backcountry rescue situations when extended care may be needed.

When Offered Multi-semester course: Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer.

Fees Course fee: $855 for instruction/materials.

Satisfies Requirement Satisfies one PE requirement if taken as PE.

The curriculum goes beyond the basics needed for first aid certification to emphasize the skills and knowledge needed in backcountry rescue situations when extended care may be needed.
    Drop Deadline: Monday, January 22, 2024. Students will be responsible for the course fee and assessed a $50 late drop fee if they do not drop by the deadline.
