This course is offered in an accelerated format. The goal of the course is to provide you with a foundational understanding of US privacy and cybersecurity laws and regulations as applied in a business environment. We will cover: key privacy laws impacting the use of consumer data in the business world, the obligations created by these laws, and the strategies used by companies to use this data in a compliant manner.  We will also discuss the changes in privacy law, how the U.S. privacy scheme compares to those in other parts of the world, including the EU. We will cover data analytics and digital and online privacy issues (including AI). We will cover privacy notices and disclosures as well and privacy issues in vendor relationships and agreements. Finally, we will dedicate several sessions to understanding the laws and regulations governing data breaches and cybersecurity, looking at businesses' obligations to manage cybersecurity risks generally, both in and outside the context of personal data.
