The course introduces the legal framework of international trade and the economic and political considerations surrounding international trade. The evolution of a global economy in the post-war period, the creation of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 1995, and the announcement of new trade and economic policy by the U.S. administration have made the understanding of trade regulation and practice, and current trade policy issues, essential to one's knowledge of how the U.S. economy operates, how it interacts with other systems, and what will be necessary to compete successfully in the global marketplace and promote economic growth and job creation domestically.
