Enrollment limited to Sloan students until February 26th. Add/drop deadline March 19th. Topic Description: We explore up-to-the-moment developments in tech, primary care and digital health that are reinventing health care and companies jockeying for control. Big Tech players are investing heavily and can afford to play the “long game”. Start-ups in AI, consumer wearables, telemedicine, remote monitoring, chronic disease management are fueled by billions of dollars from smart venture capitalists betting they will solve problems of price, convenience, quality and efficiency, and in the process “disrupt” incumbents. And we consider the value proposition of disruptive primary care models such as Iora, ChenMed, and Crossover Health. We use Clayton Christensen’s “Disruptive Innovation” research framework to evaluate today’s healthcare environment. Student groups will have the opportunity to select and explore a disruption topic in detail and share insights with the class, followed by robust discussion to uncover trends and draw conclusions of future impact. Guest experts from industry will augment those discussions.
