This 8-day, 80-hour course, provides the prerequisite training and certification necessary for employment as a professional outdoor instructor at nationally recognized programs such as NOLS and Outward Bound. The curriculum goes beyond the basics needed for first aid certification to emphasize the skills and knowledge needed in backcountry rescue situations when extended care may be needed.

When Offered Multi-semester course: (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer).

Fees Course fee: $855 for materials and instruction.

    Drop Deadline: Friday, Feb 12th; Course Fee: $855; DUE TO COVID this will now be a hybrid course. The first class will meet on zoom. The rest of the classes will be all day in person session. You must attend all days to receive credit. The in person session will first meet outside of Bartels Hall and will then be taken to the Hoffman Challenge Course.
