Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2020-2021.

This ongoing clinical course is pursuing a claim against the Department of the Interior under The Judgment Funds Act on behalf of disenrolled members of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan, and focuses heavily on matters related to federal Indian law and administrative law. We filed a Request for Action asking the Secretary of the Interior to perform its non-discretionary duty to re-enroll our clients in the Tribe, and the Department declined to do so. During the fall semester of 2020, we will prepare all documents necessary for filing an appeal in the D.C. Circuit. Student work will entail research and document preparation related to the filing the appeal in federal court. Students will be expected to quickly familiarize themselves with a voluminous historical and administrative record, which includes expert reports, client declarations and interview transcripts, and myriad research memoranda.

When Offered Fall or Spring.
