This course reviews United States law as it relates to people with disabilities.  The self-advocacy and empowerment movement in America contributes substantially to the broad and significant development in disability rights law.  Students in this course will learn about the nuances of disability law, including gaining an understanding of the types of barriers to access and the nondiscrimination laws that impact the lives of persons with disabilities across the lifespan.  Topics will include K-12 and higher education, transition to work, employment discrimination, public accommodations and programmatic access.  This course will explore current case law and legislation including application of legal principles to disability law.
