This course will strengthen your ability to craft effective written communication for a variety of formats, providing you with a skill set that is applicable in professional and academic settings. Assignments explore social science and communication concepts.
When Offered Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer.
Permission Note Enrollment limited to: Communication majors. All majors allowed for summer enrollment.
Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: COMM 1101 and 3 credits of college-level writing courses. Summer Prerequisite: grade of "B" or better in a 3-credit college writing course.
Outcomes
- Students will be able to build skills in a series of tasks critical to high-quality writing; finding, evaluating, analyzing, synthesizing and prioritizing complex material.
- Students will be able to master the individual components of the writing process; composing, editing, and revising.
- Students will be able to translate social science and communication theories and concepts for academic and public audiences.
- Students will be able to maintain the fundamentals of effective writing while adapting style, tone and content to fit a variety of formats and audiences.

Prerequisites: 3 credits college level writing courses and Comm 1101. The course is designed for Communication majors.
For Spring 2021 Only: This asynchronous section of 2310 should only be taken by students in time zones that make class attendance difficult, or by stronger writers who are disciplined and motivated. Please sign up for one of the other sections if you have weaker writing skills or have trouble keeping up with frequent deadlines.

Prerequisites: 3 credits college level writing courses and Comm 1101. The course is designed for Communication majors.
Split Hybrid: in-person attendance supplemented by additional online contact hours. Two in-person classes per week for 50-minutes each, AND a third, 50-minute class period that will be asynchronously offered.
This class is requires in-person attendance. Please sign up for one of the other sections if you cannot physically attend as this section will not be routinely broadcast or taped.
Enrollment limited to students who are able to attend in-person classes in the Ithaca area.
