Students in this course study Hugh Gauch's book, Scientific Method in Brief, which is designed to help scientists become better scientists through a deeper understanding of common themes that extend across the disciplines. Topics include the history and philosophy of science, reliance on evidence, deductive and inductive logic, probability, parsimony, and hypothesis testing.
