Electronic Commerce/Electronic Business

Electronic business, the use of information technology in conducting economic transactions and managing businesses over computer networks, has captured public attention because of its wide-ranging implications for businesses, markets, public institutions, and the general public. Electronic business involves a wide variety of cooperating technologies (e.g., communications, networks, databases, expert systems, and multimedia) and affects a wide variety of managerial issues. It created a new emphasis on information technologies and systems in management; led to the development of new technologies and new combinations of existing technologies to support management; and occasionally radically altered business practices and the role of management. Students in this course learn to conduct economic transactions and manage businesses on the Internet. All major technical and managerial issues are covered through computer exercises on the Internet and case studies and examples of businesses on the Internet.

You may add or drop a full semester class after February 4th with permission of the faculty. A late fee of $100.00 will be charged for each add or drop transaction. If you are dropping after March 17th you will also receive a "W" on your transcript in addition to the late fees. Non-Johnson students may add themselves to the waitlists during their enrollment periods, however Johnson Students have priority into the classes and non-Johnsons will be enrolled: 1) IF seats are still available after Johnson students complete their enrollment period and 2) IF the instructor allows.
