Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2019-2020.

This course is relevant to a general business career, but is particularly relevant to careers that involve the use of financial statements.  The specific accounting topics covered includes: Statement of Cash Flows; Income Taxes; Divestitures; Revenue Recognition; Financial Investments; Leases; Pensions; Equity-based Compensation; EPS; Goodwill.  My objective is to enable you to become more knowledgeable, skeptical consumers of financial information.  This objective will be achieved by a combination of lectures and analyzing and discussing articles from the financial press and cases that are based on actual financial statements.

Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: NCC 5000 or equivalent.

  • Instruction Mode: Hybrid - Online & In Person
    **GM and Graduate Students Only** An introductory financial accounting course equivalent to NCC 5000 is a prerequisite. Add/Drop Dates: Johnson Students – January 14th at 8:00am to February 4th at 4:00pm. You may add or drop a full semester class after February 4th with permission of the faculty. A late fee of $100.00 will be charged for each add or drop transaction. If you are dropping after March 17th you will also receive a "W" on your transcript in addition to the late fees. Non-Johnson students may add themselves to the waitlists during their enrollment periods, however Johnson Students have priority into the classes and non-Johnsons will be enrolled: 1) IF seats are still available after Johnson students complete their enrollment period and 2) IF the instructor allows.
