Offers students the opportunity to understand the factors and conditions influencing human resource capital in organizations, and how people-related systems, policies and practices affect individual, group and organizational performance.   The first part of the course examines the composition of human resource strategy and how HR strategy affects HR decisions and firm performance.  The second part of the course focuses on talent and performance management, examining alternative approaches to staffing positions and developing talent within the organization, as well as issues related to the assessment of employee performance, the provision of performance feedback and non-conventional modes of enhancing individual and team performance.  The final part of the course is dedicated to compensation and benefits, with students applying newly learned knowledge and competencies (along with instructor-provided data) in order to design a pay system for a fictitious  company.  Each topic is examined using a combination of case studies, exercises and summary presentations.

When Offered Fall or Spring.
