Course Description
Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2019-2020.
This course introduces students to the economics of renewable and nonrenewable natural resources. Topics covered include the valuation and use of land; water economics, management, and conservation; fishery economics; the extraction and management of nonrenewable resources such as minerals, rare earth elements, and energy resources; groundwater; renewable and nonrenewable sources of energy; forest use; and sustainability. Students will learn how to use dynamic models to analyze decision making over time. A solid background in calculus is required.
When Offered Spring.
Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: MATH 1110, ECON 3030 or AEM 2600.

Instruction Mode: Hybrid - Online & In Person
Prerequisites: By application only; in order to apply, students should sign up on the wait list, read the syllabus that will be posted on Canvas at the beginning of Spring Semester 2020, bring their iClicker remote to both of the first 2 lectures, attend both of the first 2 lectures, and apply in person in class. Both Math 1110 and either Econ 3030 or AEM 2600 must be completed before taking AEM 4500 / ECON 4810 (and cannot be taken concurrently). For students whose major or minor require both AEM 2500 and AEM 4500, AEM 2500 should be taken before AEM 4500.
