Focuses on understanding and applying the problem-solving process used by consultants. The course is organized around a real past project to help students understand the process and skills needed to be successful in a consulting internship or beginning a career in consulting.  There will be assigned reading on key topics including the client/consultant relationship, interviewing clients and outside people, data collection and analysis, managing client meetings, and selling your recommendations.  The course will cover those topics as well as change management and the business of consulting.  You will work through the past project in problem definition and project planning, interview planning, data collection, analysis, developing conclusions and recommendations and final presentations.  There will be one final team presentation.  This course is designed for those interning in consulting or going into it full-time.

  • GM Only - All other students by permission of instructor Only Add/Drop Dates: Johnson Students January 16th at 8:00am thru February 7th at 4:00pm with an additional Add/Drop period beginning March 19th at 8:00am to March 26th at 4:00pm. Non-Johnson Students: March 23th at 8:00am to March 26th 4:00pm. You may add or drop a second-half class after March 26th with permission of the faculty. A late fee of $100.00 will be charged for each add or drop transaction. If you are dropping after April 16th you will also receive a "W" on your transcript in addition to the late fees. Non-Johnson students may add themselves to the waitlists during the enrollment periods, however Johnson Students have priority into the classes and non-Johnsons will be enrolled: 1) IF seats are still available after Johnson students complete their enrollment period and 2) IF the instructor allows. Non-Johnson students must see their college registrar regarding policies connected with adding/dropping a second half Johnson School class. A petition may be required.
