This class is designed to provide the participants with a viable pathway to understanding their role in making an enterprise more socially valuable in today's ever changing world. This course will explore the rising interest in practicing capitalism in order to benefit society as a whole.  In this class we will be tapping into the inherent feelings many students have that doing well and doing good in business is attainable.  The course will further explore potential business practices that are not only a force for doing good in society but lead to actually being socially and environmentally restorative. 

When Offered Spring.

  • Identify their core passion and learn how to make that the centerpiece of their entrepreneurial path.
  • Identify the different purposes business have and evaluate their value to society utilizing a taxonomy of business structures from profit maximization to not for profit.
  • Evaluate what business structure is most favorable for their individual entrepreneurial path.
  • Identify actual business practices that promote the thriving of the human spirit.

  • Add/Drop dates: Johnson Students – January 16th at 8:00am through February 7th at 4:00pm or prior to first class if class is held before these dates. Students may attend first class, but must drop BEFORE the 2nd class meeting to avoid penalties. Send email to before the 2nd meeting date to request the drop. There is a late fee of $100.00 for each add or drop transaction after the 2nd class meeting date. You will also receive a "W" on your transcript in addition to the late fees after the 2nd class meeting date. Non-Johnson students may add themselves to the waitlists during the enrollment periods, however Johnson Students have priority into the classes and non-Johnsons will be enrolled: 1) IF seats are still available after Johnson students complete their enrollment period and 2) IF the instructor allows.
