This graduate-level course offers an introduction to outcome evaluations in the public and nonprofit sectors, using experimental, quasi-experimental and non-experimental designs. Emphasis is on understanding when an outcome evaluation is appropriate, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of various designs vis-a-vis typical evaluation problems. Using evaluation case scenarios, students will learn how to implement various designs. Includes practice with analyzing the associated data, as well as properly interpreting and applying results for program and policy improvement and decision-making.
