MAE 5130

Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2016-2017.

Relationships between microstructure and mechanical behavior in thin films and other nanoscale structures. Topics include stresses, elastic and plastic deformation, creep and anelasticity, and fracture and delamination; and how mechanical behavior at the nanoscale deviates from the predictions of scaling laws derived for bulk materials. Applications in microelectronics, optics, microelectromechanical systems, coatings, etc.

When Offered Spring.
