Thus far, the field of cognitive neuroscience has primarily focused on the neuroanatomy of cognition. In this course, we will review the basic functional anatomy and properties of neurotransmitter systems in order to also consider the neurochemistry of cognition. In recent years, this sub-discipline has become an important and growing area within cognitive neuroscience.

Outcomes
  • Will be able to apply and integrate knowledge from neuroscience and psychology.
  • Will be able to design and execute an empirical research study.
  • Will develop skills to be able to synthesize lecture and assigned reading material in both written and oral form – research paper and oral presentation assignments.
  • Will be able to use library resources relevant to cognitive neuroscience.
