Four lectures (two on Friday afternoon, two on Saturday morning) will be given by Jesse Reyes, a leading expert on private equity research who was the former head of research for Venture Economics, Thomson/Reuters private equity research and financial information subsidiary. The lectures will focus on the venture capital and private equity industries from the practitioners' perspective. Topics include (1) an introduction to the private equity market focusing on the transactions that define the industry, its structure, participants, history, and trends; (2) institutional private equity investing-examining how private equity investment fits into the institutional investors asset allocation mix; (3) an examination of private equity performance measurement and trends and how structural differences in private equity investments make optimized allocation decisions challenging; and (4) emerging issues facing the private equity industry such as new regulatory initiatives and fundraising and investment opportunity challenges. There will be a final paper.
