Bastard of Science on the Doorstep of Art: A History of Early Photography

This course examines the prehistory, invention, and uses of photography in the nineteenth century. Special attention is paid to the colonial and cultural histories of photography’s early appearances around the globe, its antiquated duties and fascinating machinery before the rise of the hand camera.
