Bike Touring is for those who want to learn how to travel self-supported by bike. This course will cover bike touring equipment use, camping skills, route planning and bike maintenance. Skills on the bike will include road riding safety and riding with a loaded bike. Classes will include rides of 5-15 miles and the course will culminate in a two-day bike tour with overnight camping. Pre-requisite: the ability to comfortably ride a bike 10-20 miles in a single ride. If you are not at that level yet, consider joining PE 1668 Recreational Biking or PE 1665 Learn to Bike.


Fees Course fee, $305. for instruction and food. Bike rentals available for an additional $60 fee.

If you are not yet comfortable with 10-20 miles a ride, or need to brush up on your biking skills, consider joining PE 1668 Recreational Biking or PE 1665 Learn to Bike. The weekend tour will take place in Tompkins County; transportation provided.
    Drop Deadline: Monday, August 24, 2026. Students will be responsible for the course fee and assessed a $50 late drop fee if they do not drop by the deadline. Attendance is required.
