Course information provided by the 2026-2027 Catalog.

Ready to catch fish on flies you tied yourself? This relaxed, 7-week course shows you how to turn feathers, fur, and thread into realistic flies that will catch fish locally. Each week, you will master new tying techniques and complete a different local fly pattern. We will also share fresh fishing updates, talk strategy, and cover fly line and leader rigging. The class will also cover advanced casting and fishing techniques needed for streams and rivers. You will leave with a custom fly box stuffed with your own handmade flies and the skills to keep tying at home. Students should already know how to fly fish, either from taking PE 1311 or previous experiences.
