This colloquium examines current scholarship and practice concerning the interaction between legal institutions and machine-based decision-making systems. Through a series of guest presentations by scholars and industry practitioners, students will explore how courts, agencies, and other legal actors use and respond to automated tools. Topics include interpretation, discretion, evidence, and institutional accountability. Students will develop skills in reading and critiquing contemporary work in this area. (LAW-ABA, LAW-WRIT)
