This course is a mandatory pre-departure seminar for all students who will participate in the Vietnam Global Learning Program trip to Ho-Chi-Minh City during the Winter Term. Students will learn basic facts about Vietnamese history, its current labor situation, and its role within the greater geographic region. The main deliverable for this course will be a short research inquiry into one core labor issue of note within contemporary Vietnamese society which each student will present to the rest of the class during the final week of instruction. In addition, students will receive training on protocols for travel and responsible conduct as an emissary of ILR and Cornell.
