This course covers the history, use, and practical application of interest arbitration by Major League Baseball (“MLB”) and the National Hockey League (“NHL”) to determine player compensation for a subset of MLB and NHL players. The class involves writing a brief in connection with a NHL salary arbitration simulation during the semester involving real data for NHL players, as well as an arbitration hearing making use of real data for MLB players.
