First course in a two-semester sequence on physical chemistry. The course covers quantum mechanics, aspects of chemical bonding, and spectroscopy. Emphasis is placed on developing a quantitative toolkit for physical chemistry and applying it towards explaining and quantifying experimental observations.


Prerequisites CHEM 2080; MATH 1110 and MATH 1120; PHYS 2208; or permission of instructor.
