This course explores the relationship between food and culture in Latin America. It asks what we eat and why, and in what contexts. We will examine how colonialism and globalization have shifted consumption patterns in Latin America, as well as the environment implications of different agricultural practices. Students will wet their appetites with a variety of literary nonfiction texts, films, and images about food.
