Biomaterials and Drug Delivery in Immunology: This course will consist of three parts. Part I Biomaterials and Drug Delivery will cover fundamentals of biomaterials, surface coatings, hydrogels, and drug delivery. Part II will cover basic concepts of (a) innate and adaptive immunity and how they work together to protect individuals against infections and cancers, (b) antigen-presenting cells (APCs) and how they recognize, concentrate and present antigens, and (c) lymphocytes of adaptive immunity including B and T lymphocytes and how humoral immunity eradicates extracellular microbes and toxins via antibodies from B lymphocytes while how cell-mediated immunity eradicates intracellular microbes via T lymphocytes. Part III will present several examples regarding the applications of biomaterials and drug delivery to vaccines (e.g. COVID 19), immunotherapies, and immunodeficiencies. Enrollment limited to Graduate and Professional students only.

Intro to Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology is a fun, yet fast-paced course that combines concepts from Biology, Physiology, Electrical circuits, and engineering and gives you a peek into a promising field Electrophysiology (EP), the study of the electrical system of the heart. You'll learn basic EP principles, sensing equipment used in the field, and learn about diagnostic/therapeutic procedures used to treat patients with heart conditions.
