Applications of mathematical modeling, simulation, and optimization to environmental-quality management. Fate and transport models for contaminants in air, water, and soil. Optimization methods (search techniques, linear programming, integer programming) to evaluate alternatives for waste management and water and air pollution control. Introduction to the impact of uncertainty on solutions and decisions through introductory stochastic programming, and risk assessment through simulation.
