Course Description
Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2021-2022.
In this course, students will choose and implement a climate action from Project Drawdown's (www.drawdown.org) list of 100 climate solutions. Students will also use principles derived from social sciences research to persuade one of your social networks to implement the climate action. Students will explore climate policies and write a letter to a government official supporting a particular policy. All students will interact with climate activists from around the world similarly conducting climate actions in their networks.

Outcomes- Students will be able to explain climate change science, greenhouse gas mitigation approaches, and the communication challenges that have slowed global and national responses.
- Students will be able to provide and respond to constructive peer feedback demonstrating critical thinking skills, in oral and written forms.
- Students will be able to demonstrate cross-cultural understanding and communication skills as applied to working in a global online environment.
- Students will be able to reflect on climate change action from a multicultural perspective and recognize the climate-related challenges facing, and opportunities available to, individuals in countries around the world.
- Students will be able to make informed and responsible decisions with regard to actions that might affect the climate.
- Students will be able to identify and implement an individual and collective action to reduce greenhouse gases or influence climate policy.

This is a new online/in-person hybrid course. The course will include short pre-recorded video lectures, readings, online discussion boards and chats, with class times devoted to short instructor overviews of course materials and student discussion This course replaces and expands upon NTRES 2500 in the 2018-2019 catalog.
